Opens experiment files.
The file browser dialog that appears allows you to view
either experiment files or backup experiment files. In the dialog,
try selecting each of the "Experiment files" and "Experiment
file backups" listed by the heading "Files of type:".
- Selecting "Experiment
files" will display all files ending in ".xml" in the current
- Selecting "Experiment file backups" will display all files
ending in ".xml~".
Restrictions on Opening Experiment Files
Each experiment file is stamped with the name and version of the data
model that was used to create it. Only those files created with the
same model name and version used by the application can be loaded.

There are two ways to find out the data model information recorded in
an experiment file.
Method 1: Try opening it
Open the file. If no error occurs, then the file has the same name
data model used by the application. If the models are incompatible,
you will see the name and version of the data model in the error dialog.
Method 2: Use a text editor to open the XML file.
Use a text editor application to open the XML experiment file. The
first line in any file will have a fragment that looks something like this:

Open a file
- Click on the "File" menu.
- Click on the "Open" button. You should see a file browser
dialog. You can select "Experiment files" or "Experiment file
backups" to control what files are displayed.
- Click on the "Open" button. You should see a dialog showing the
experiment file you selected.
